Biggest Storm EVER!
This afternoon I sat with my daycare kids looking outside the window and admiring the rain and thunder along with an occasional lighting bolt. Then the rain picked up and so did the wind. Pretty soon the tree next to our daycare flew past the window and at this point I realized this was not a typical storm. This was a a really, really, really bad storm. The hail started to hit the doors and windows and eventually destroyed the back window of my boss’s Kia.
I helped get the kids away from the window and at this point realized that one of the girls that works with us, S, who is Mentally Challenged was no where to be seen. Sometimes she has a hard time comprehending things that would normally seem like common sense to most people. She knew that part of her job was to take out the trash and that was what she was doing. In the Storm. WITH 67 mph WINDS. I ran outside only to find her clinging to the chain linked fence and trying to hold onto the trash can. I grabbed her by the hand and told her to let go of the freaking trash can.
Between running, grabbing the fence and dodging anything that flew towards us we made it back inside. Completly soaked to the bone and shaking. She immediatly started to apologize but all I could think to do was give her a big hug and tell her she was crazy for going outside. She laughed it off and said she was trying to get done with work so she could leave. I reminded her that no one would be leaving in weather like this and I tried to find her a change of clothes. We camped out in the back of the daycare room along with a few parents and kids and waited it out. It didn’t last long, maybe an hour at the most, but there was significant damage to our facility as well as many other places around town.
I guess I can now say I have survived my first Montana Storm. I really hope we don’t have anymore of these any time soon.

Wow! You’re a hero! Thank goodness you were there. We were stuck at Peep’s sister’s and she lives in a trailer…I was freakin out just a lil bit. Tayten just flipped his ears off and smiled – he didn’t hear a thing! Ha!
Sounds awful, but glad nothing worse happened.
